Slice 6-10 peeled and cored apples such as Granny Smiths, Jonagolds, Gingergolds, Galas, McIntosh, Empires into a 9 by 13 casserole dish so that it is generously full.
Sprinkle cinnamon over the apples. If the apples are sour like Grannies, sprinkle some sugar over them as well.
Make the crumble top and spread over the apples.
Bake at 350 for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Crumble top (double this if you like more topping and have enough butter in your fridge)
1 stick of butter
1 cup gf flour (I like to use brown rice and sorghum)
1/2 cup brown or white sugar, or a sugar substitute like maple syrup, honey, coconut sugar, golden syrup, agave, etc.
Other options
Some people like apple crisp way sweeter than I do. If you are one of those folks, use more sugar.
Add oats or nuts for true deliciousness, but only if I am not eating the crisp you are making.
