No onions in this means my daughters can eat ketchup. This is a fast version. Maybe I will post a slow, more full flavored version another time (after I decide to figure it out).
1 cup tomato puree
4 tablespoon brown sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon mustard powder
pinch of cloves
6 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1/3 to 1/2 c water
a few drops of Worcestershire sauce (optional)
garlic powder or garlic salt (optional)
garlic powder or garlic salt (optional)
Simmer over low heat for 5 minutes and then adjust to taste.
